Discussion on Predestination and the unsaved

November 16th, 2015
Julie Kimani November 16, 2015 I have a question that I am trying to sort out in my head, unsuccessfully. My pastor was talking about predestination, God's sovereignty, and free will yesterday. John 6:44, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day." These are those people who are predestined for heaven (Romans 8:30), correct? If that's the case, it seems to me that this insinuates that there will be those that are NOT drawn. Meaning they are predestined not . . .

Question on Hebrew and Gender of Angels

March 7th, 2015
Kristi-Joy Matovich March 5 at 3:06pm We could use some help from our Hebrew scholars. I am having difficulty determining whether or not the word/words for Angel in Hebrew are masculine or neuter, and whether that actually indicates gender. Also, whether the pronouns used of angels (when they are not being visibly observed as "men," but just as angels) are masculine or neuter. Or, does Hebrew, like Greek and English, use the masculine pronoun as also the neuter pronoun? Our office is Greek-heavy and rather Hebrew-poor, . . .

Theology Discussion – Calvinism, Arminianism, Molinism

January 4th, 2015
Steve Ray Webb January 3, 2015 at 5:49am I have always rejected a rigid Calvinist approach to salvation because it conflicts with all the Scriptures that place emphasis on personal responsibility, both in preaching the Gospel and in receiving it. But similarly, I have always rejected a rigid Arminian approach to salvation because it limits or reduces God's omniscience. To give it a label, I guess this puts me in the Molinist camp of taking a position somewhere in the middle (described pretty well in the article below . . .

Question on Time of the Gentiles and Jerusalem under Gentile Rule

December 19th, 2014
Kristi-Joy Matovich December 18 at 11:29pm · Edited Would appreciate some help on this: Is it correct to consider Jerusalem to be under Gentile rule? Or is it only part of Jerusalem? Or am I working on bad information altogether? The context of my question is whether the prophetically proclaimed "time of the Gentiles" necessarily includes the Gentile rule of Jerusalem. I know a number of you spend a lot of time on such topics, so I'd appreciate your help! Like · Seen by 36 MeLissa . . .

Question on Zacchaeus and Jesus – Did Jesus know his name through His divinity or His humanity?

December 5th, 2014
James Toland December 4 at 6:13pm · Grand Rapids, MI So in the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus from Luke 19, do you think it was Jesus' divinity (knows all of us by name) or humanity (had heard of Zacchaeus previously through rumor or what not) that allowed Him to call on Zacchaeus when He saw him in the tree? On the unpardonable sin

September 29th, 2014
Jun Cotto September 28 at 9:39pm Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the unpardonable/unforgivable sin. The answer to "What is the unpardonable sin / unforgivable sin?" on the GQ site indicates that "This specific unpardonable sin against the Holy Spirit cannot be duplicated today." However, scripture seems to indicate otherwise: "Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of . . .

On relating to the Trinity

September 22nd, 2014
Jed Kramer September 21, 2014 · Edited I intend to refer to the Holy Spirit in thought, prayer, and conversation as Counselor or Guide for a while. (John 14:26, John 16:13) Any thoughts on this or similar experiments by any of you? Here is my motivation: While I do think of the Holy Spirit as a person of our triune God, I believe the intimacy of my relationship with him is somewhat hindered by his 'otherness'. And, of the 3, I should have at least as intimate a relationship with my indwelling Counselor as I have . . .
