Discussion on role of the Holy Spirit in the eternal state June 13th, 2016 Ed Chait June 9 at 11:01pm Within the economy of the Trinity, what will the Holy Spirit’s “role” be in the eternal state? Without the Holy Spirit in him, believers can’t still comprehend God even in heaven. Like · Reply · 1 · June 9 at 11:15pm · Edited Ed Chait I was just reading this verse and wondered. That implies that we will have full knowledge and in the eternal state there will be no need for healing or comforting. But I can see that we will know fully through the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 13:12) For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. I don’t have an answer, but you made me think. (Ouch, btw). Like · Reply · 3 · June 10 at 2:47am Corpuz Valdemor Avellaneda Ramil Jesus said the Holy Spirit will be with us FOREVER. My understanding of forever is “for eternity.” Like · Reply · 1 · June 10 at 8:03pm · Edited Tim White Simply, the Holy Spirit is God. God is unsearchable. The eternal state is not fully described for us. It certainly is not described for the Holy Spirit. It is an interesting question, but I am afraid that this side of the eternal state, there is not a satisfying answer. The teaching is somewhat lengthy, but in condensed form: First the Scriptures seem to teach that He is in Heaven (1st Jn. 5:7). We simply believe that there are three persons in one Godhead and that all three will be in Heaven. (Ps. 139:7) “Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy presence”? Some light is shed on this in (Isa. 11:1,2), Isaiah seems to give us a picture of a future new world governed by the Branch (Jesus Christ), who become ruler of a world restored to peace, righteousness and goodness. Then in (Jude 20, 24) it appears that the Holy Spirit will someday present us to the Lord Jesus Christ. He who knows us best will present us to Him who died for us, and then the Holy Spirit will open our eyes and we shall see Jesus as He is! Like · Reply · 1 · June 10 at 3:43pm Ed Chait Amen!
