In the fall of 2003 I prayed:  "Lord, what more can I do for You?" In just a few days a friend told me about a new internet ministry, Got Questions, and it was needing more writers on their volunteer staff to answer questions that came in. Would I be interested? I did not even need to pray about this, but considered it an answer to my prayer. After applying, I became a staff member. October 2013 was my ten-year anniversary, with some time-outs for illnesses. Eleven years ago, my daughter MeLissa and her husband Shea asked me to consider answering questions for GotQuestions.org. They were struggling to answer the increasing number of questions that they were receiving in the early days of the ministry. I was pastoring a small church in Iowa and also had a full time job at a local public school. I didn’t have a lot of extra time, but would give it a try. I did not type or use the internet at all, but my wife was very capable, so we teamed up on the job. We answered a few questions assigned to us and . . .

Shea, ten years ago on the tenth of this month (October), you welcomed me aboard the writing staff at Got Questions. I keep the original e-mail in a special folder. The passing of time has brought me many blessings through the opportunities that you have graced me with. I am so very grateful to you Shea for welcoming me and working with me. I started writing for GotQuestions when my friend and former neighbor, Howard Eppler, became too ill to continue writing.  Because of the need for writers, he asked if I would be interested in that kind of ministry.  I prayed, and decided to give it a try, trusting that if God could use me, I would be so happy to serve Him in such a meaningful way.  Because of my background, there seemed very little I couldn't identify with in some way, so I told Shea that I preferred to take questions concerning family-related issues/problems. It was the year of 2001, and following on the Millennium celebrations the year before, a mood of happy optimism prevailed in England.  It was the same for me and my husband Geoff.  We had finally adjusted to the grief of losing our first grandchild and were beginning to move on and look ahead once more, we were both happy and fulfilled in our jobs, and then to our joy we learned that our two other daughters-in-law were both pregnant.  We were leaving the shadows behind us at last and life was good again.
