Thoughts on why Jesus healed one blind man in two stages

July 6th, 2015
Ed Chait July 3 at 4:05pm This is something I've wondered about. We are not told, but why do you think Jesus healed this blind man in two stages instead of instantly? (Mark 8:22-25) And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, "Do you see anything?" And he looked up and said, "I see people, but they look like trees, walking." . . .

On Christians and Old Testament Promises

June 25th, 2015
Justin Tilghman June 23 at 12:20pm · Kinston, NC So I know there's often some discussion on here regarding Covenant Theology. I wouldn't say I fall "squarely" in that camp, but I do have an honest question. If we draw a distinction between the church and Israel, how can we as "Gentile" believers still find hope and comfort in the promises of the OT, as these were actually made to Israel (ie., Isaiah 66:13, Jeremiah 29:11, etc.) Like · Comment Seen by 32 Ed Chait likes this. Discussion on Testimony and Remembering One’s Moment of Salvation

June 22nd, 2015
Ed Chait June 15 at 4:16pm · Edited Byron commented in a thread that his wife and mother-in-law are saved but don't have a specific "moment of salvation". My wife also cannot recall a specific moment when she received Christ as her Lord and Savior. I know that there is no specific "formula" for salvation, but I'm curious as to what kind of testimony a person with this experience can give? If there is no specific moment in time when a person becomes aware they are a sinner in need of God's forgiveness, how can they give . . .

Question on “Christian Atheists” and “Cultural Christians”

June 18th, 2015
Wendyl Leslie June 17 at 6:28pm Got assigned a question today and would like your input on it: What is the difference between "cultural Christian" and "Christian atheism"? The terms "cultural Christian" and "Christian atheism" aren't totally foreign to me, however, I'm not having much success finding good info about them. My initial thoughts are that Christian atheists believe that Jesus was a good, moral man, but God Himself, is not longer relevant in the church or even dead. On the other . . .

Question on whether pastors should be required to have read the entire Bible

June 18th, 2015
Dwight Payne June 17, 2015 My own question for the group: I guess I'm just curious about this more than anything, so here goes. Maybe it's just me, but I'm thinking that if God calls someone to be a pastor and be in ministry and preach and teach His Word, I would think that the person should be able to say that they have actually read the Bible. I'm not talking about bits and pieces; I'm talking about the whole thing, start to finish, cover to cover, every word. I honestly cannot understand how someone could be a pastor . . .

Help with a Question on Christians wearing skulls

June 16th, 2015
Justin Tilghman June 16, 2015 · Kinston, NC Would appreciate other's thoughts on this one: Question:Can Christians wear skulls? clothing, rings etc. My gut says there is nothing explicitly against it but there's really no benefit to it either, but I can't find anything in Scripture to "support" it. The only thing that comes to mind is Leviticus 19:28 but I don't know if that really applies. Like · Comment Seen by 20 Ed Romero and Ed Chait like this. Christopher . . .

Help with a Question regarding the day of Jesus’ crucifixion

June 16th, 2015
Ed Romero June 16, 2015 Regis, I'd like to use a lifeline. Question 405809: You say in an article (Which day was Jesus crucified?) that Jesus was crucified on a Friday. That is utterly impossible! Here's why: A Friday crucifixion means that Friday was the preparation day (13 Nisan) John 19: 31 says he was killed NOT on the High Holy Day of Passover but on the preparation day which preceded it. If that day was Friday it makes the next day both the weekly sabbath AND the high day of Passover. Correct? BUT that would make . . .

Discussion on Spiritual Gifts

June 14th, 2015
Tim White June 13 at 3:03pm Hmmmmm..... I just got a question on spiritual gifts. Before I jump into it, I have to mention that probably my understanding of spiritual gifts and the falacy of they way it is taught now may not align with the ministry's position. I will answer it to the best of my understanding if you wish. Like · Comment Seen by 49 Ed Chait and David Yanni like this.
