On Demographic Information

September 16th, 2014
Jed Kramer September 15, 2014 My last 5 or so questioners have not included demographic information. -Is this a recent trend overall? -Do the questioners see anything before submitting their question that encourages them to provide demographic information to receive a more specific response? -Is there a way to acquire this information more often?... Question and Answer on Proof of God / Reasons to Believe

September 15th, 2014
Jeff Laird September 13 at 10:55pm Got one of those questions I both love and hate. Love it because it's right in my wheelhouse: reasons to believe from a non-believer's perspective. Hate it because one feels the colossal pressure of being either a stepping stone aiding someone's submission to Christ, or a stumbling block that turns them away. Wouldn't take the world in exchange for these opportunities, though. His question and my answer below (might take a few separate comments to fit). UnlikeUnlike · Seen . . .

Thoughts on Gospel invitation in responses

September 15th, 2014
Ed Chait September 11 at 2:14pm This was in the August 2014 Staff Newsletter: "Please always feel free to conclude your answers with a brief Gospel presentation. It might be helpful to have a standard conclusion for all your responses. For example, one of our writers, Larry, puts the following: "The most important thing is that you believe in God, and that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He died on the cross for your sins, and on the third day He rose from the dead. If you confess this with your mouth and... See . . .

On Rudistids (fossils of clams)

September 15th, 2014
Steve Ray Webb September 13 at 11:54pm What are Rudistids? They are a class of long extinct clams. Their form is bizarre in that most of them look more like corals, depending on the type of rudist (and there are many types). Why have I taken a fancy to them? A combination of reasons: 1) where I once lived they were easy to find on fossil hunting expeditions, 2) they make attractive specimens adorning my collection, 3) they are quite important to the oil business in terms of age-dating and in recognizing depositional . . .

Regarding a Catholic Neighbor

September 13th, 2014
Robert Lowry‎Got Questions Writers September 12 I have a neighbor I talk with regularly. He comes out of the Catholic church. He seems to sincerely believe in all the important things about becoming a Christian, e.g. that there is sin in his life, that it is necessary to repent of sin, that Jesus died in our place for sin, that Jesus was raised from the dead and lives today, and that salvation is only through Jesus Christ. He says he believes in all this, and yet, he does not seem to have appropriated Jesus' saving grace . . .
