Q&A – Undercover Work and Lies

April 1st, 2015
John Edward Rasmussen 18 hrs Hey all, looking for some help on a question. I'm past-due because I'm behind on - well, everything in life right now! Lol. But the question I'm working on is this - "Would it be a sin for an undercover police officer, or a CIA agent, or someone like that to lie to do their job? Thanks." Any thoughts? My instinct is to say "yes", because I'm not for the idea of "the ends justify the means", but I'm not sure how to express this principle scripturally in this case. Like · Comment Seen . . .

Jesus and Paul on Government

March 30th, 2015
Wendyl Leslie March 29 at 6:36am Here's a question that's sure to generate some thoughtful discussion: Do the words of Jesus in Luke 13:32 contradict the words of Paul in Romans 13:1-2? Seeing the climate of our current government, I war with this issue especially in light of Jesus' words regarding king Herod. Like · Comment Seen by 32 Justin Tilghman I think you have two different situations here in Scripture. Jesus is not resisting Herod. Herod is trying to kill Him . . .

The Church being a light yet this world not being its home

March 29th, 2015
Ed Chait March 27 at 6:31pm How can the Church be a light to the nations if the world is not the Church's home? Like · Comment Seen by 28 Robert Lowry The church is supposed to live in the world (for now) but not be of the world. So it will be the light to the nations until the rapture. After that, the job falls to the 144,000 Jewish evangelists, the Two Witnesses, and angels flhying around in the heavens making evangelistic announcements. March 27 at 6:34pm · Like Ed . . .

Resources on Creation / Evolution / Science Questions

March 27th, 2015
Steve Ray Webb March 23 at 6:48pm · Edited Anyone who has interest in the battle against evolution or has science questions in general, I recommend the Discovery Institute as the place to go. They are a true powerhouse of science knowledge with people like Dr. William Dembski and Dr. Michael Behe serving as Senior Fellows. They are a breath of fresh air compared to the embarrassing 'hillbilly science' that so many websites promote. http://www.discovery.org/ Like · Comment Seen . . .

On Doctrinal Disagreements in Church

March 18th, 2015
Ed Chait March 17 at 10:05pm I need to share this and ask for your prayers. A few weeks ago, I made a a comment in thread here how I was more excited than ever about going to church to worship and listen. The church had started a new series of Sunday School classes and I signed up for "Old Testament Survey". The teacher passed out a handout and began teaching about God making His first covenant. A "works covenant" with Adam which could be understood to be like a Suzerain Treaty between nations. I had never heard . . .

Q&A – When did Jesus actually bear our sin on the cross?

March 17th, 2015
Courtney Kincel Silberman March 17 at 11:04am · Glen Allen, VA Could someone weigh in on this question with me? Do we have enough biblical information to give an answer one way or another? I feel like her guess is a good one. Thanks in advance! (see Matthew 27:45-50 to begin) "During the crucifixion, at what time did Jesus bear and pay for our sins? Was is between when He said "Father, why have you forsaken me?" and "It is finished"? Was it during the 3 hours of darkness?" Like · Seen . . .
