What does the “for” mean in Genesis 3:16?

In Genesis 3:16 the English Standard Version has a footnote after "for" which says "or against." (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/…) For and against seem to be opposed to one another so I'm guessing that this Hebrew word is not translated very easily into English. Can someone help clarify its meaning?

"What are the qual for a woman to teach a women's bible study?
Specifically there's a lady in my church that will be leading our ladies, but she doesn't attend any functions outside of church, including Sunday School, all of which she used to do. Something's off and I know my pastor is aware of this and has spoken to her. He just encouraged us to be like the Bereans and test everything,

Of jolly urgency I ask, is there an interpretation of the question's specific species of asking here, or what is wanting to be known by this:
"Did God gave us instinct or gut feeling?"

Sarah Van Baale I probably wouldn't answer that question directly. Instead I'd mention that gut feelings, instinct, intuition, etc. are often triggered by our physical senses noticing small things

Hi, could some of you share some thoughts on how to respond to this question... How should Christians view gender neutral bathrooms? Should we support the safety of the individual?
(I assume they are also referring to the issue of allowing men to enter women's bathrooms and women to enter men's restrooms...per the recent controversy regarding transgender people.)
