Question on the Holy Spirit forgiving sins

July 21st, 2015
James Toland July 20, 2015 · Hudsonville, MI Question I just received "Jesus has forgiven sins on earth. Can the Holy Spirit specifically forgive sins? How?" The first part I assume is "yes" as Jesus could forgive sins because He was God and since the Holy Spirit is also God He could too. It's the "How" I am unsure of as I don't recall scripture discussing this. Thoughts? Like   Comment Seen by 22 Ed Chait and Erik van Geel like this. Kris Cadogan Initial thoughts: . . .

Question on Working for a Company that Supports LGBT

July 12th, 2015
Wendyl Leslie July 7 at 2:46pm What are your thoughts on the following question I've just been assigned: "Should I be working for a company that supports LGBT? Or a company that supports anything that opposes God’s word?" Thanks much! Like · Comment Seen by 57 Ed Chait likes this. Jeff Laird Not to be trite, but 1 Corinthians 5:10 comes to mind. There are almost no companies on earth that are morally, doctrinally perfect. Of course, each person has to decide . . .

Thoughts on why Jesus healed one blind man in two stages

July 6th, 2015
Ed Chait July 3 at 4:05pm This is something I've wondered about. We are not told, but why do you think Jesus healed this blind man in two stages instead of instantly? (Mark 8:22-25) And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, "Do you see anything?" And he looked up and said, "I see people, but they look like trees, walking." . . .

Sample Q&A from June 2015

July 1st, 2015
Question: Is it wrong to think of yourself as being special? Is it a sin? Does doubting that you are special actually show that you are more human and a better person who cares more for other people than some-one "who is full of there own self importance" and doesn't ever doubt themselves? Does God/Jesus want you to always think of other people as being special before yourself? Or not? Or does he want you to think that you are special/important to him? On Christians and Old Testament Promises

June 25th, 2015
Justin Tilghman June 23 at 12:20pm · Kinston, NC So I know there's often some discussion on here regarding Covenant Theology. I wouldn't say I fall "squarely" in that camp, but I do have an honest question. If we draw a distinction between the church and Israel, how can we as "Gentile" believers still find hope and comfort in the promises of the OT, as these were actually made to Israel (ie., Isaiah 66:13, Jeremiah 29:11, etc.) Like · Comment Seen by 32 Ed Chait likes this. Question on “Christian Atheists” and “Cultural Christians”

June 18th, 2015
Wendyl Leslie June 17 at 6:28pm Got assigned a question today and would like your input on it: What is the difference between "cultural Christian" and "Christian atheism"? The terms "cultural Christian" and "Christian atheism" aren't totally foreign to me, however, I'm not having much success finding good info about them. My initial thoughts are that Christian atheists believe that Jesus was a good, moral man, but God Himself, is not longer relevant in the church or even dead. On the other . . .

Question on whether pastors should be required to have read the entire Bible

June 18th, 2015
Dwight Payne June 17, 2015 My own question for the group: I guess I'm just curious about this more than anything, so here goes. Maybe it's just me, but I'm thinking that if God calls someone to be a pastor and be in ministry and preach and teach His Word, I would think that the person should be able to say that they have actually read the Bible. I'm not talking about bits and pieces; I'm talking about the whole thing, start to finish, cover to cover, every word. I honestly cannot understand how someone could be a pastor . . .
