Is it possible for the Rapture to occur before the Bible is translated into every tongue?

Elizabeth DeVore Sure. Many languages are already extinct and became so with no Bible.

Ed Chait OK, but if faith comes through hearing, and hearing through the Word of God, then those who speak a tongue that the Bible has not been translated into would not have a chance to avoid the Tribulation, or am I missing something, which is probably the case.

Ed Chait
Ed Chait My understanding is that believing in God’s general revelation is not enough to save.

Christopher Dupre Many linguists predict over half of the existing 7,000 or so languages will disappear by 2050. 90% will die by 2100. 639 of the languages known to have existed are already extinct. Almost 500 languages have less than 10 speakers, and will soon die oSee More

Ed Chait The gospel will be proclaimed in every tongue during the tribulation, so there will be an opportunity for everyone to hear the good news in their tongue.

(Revelation 14:6) Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people.

Ed Chait My pastor taught us that the “deluding influence” that God will send during the Tribulation will only affect those who hardened their hearts against Him before the Rapture, not those who got left behind but never had an opportunity to hear the Gospel.

Timothy Craig Munger I believe the rapture can happen before the Bible is translated into all the languages. It can hapen at any moment.

Alyson Dreyer Each person is held accountable for the revelation they have received. If creation is all they have they are accountable to the God of creation. If they have the Law they know they need a redeemer. If they hear about Jesus they have all revealed truth.

Christopher Dupre I really like the way you put that. Alyson Dreyer. I categorize that as insta-sense. When the light comes on immediately. smile emoticon

Ed Chait
Ed Chait That would mean that believing in God’s general revelation is enough to save those who have not heard the gospel.

Alyson Dreyer
Alyson Dreyer Ed, only if they turn their hearts to understanding God. Look at what Job knew about God before any Scripture was written. Job is the oldest book. God reveals himself to any who would desire him. Unfortunately that is not many.

Ed Chait I think that’s because adults don’t look at Creation the way a child does.
