Lincoln Bostick: 10-Year Blurb

October 27th, 2019

A good friend and sister in Christ actually challenged me over 10 years ago to apply to be a writer for GotQuestions. She observed that God had given this gift to me for His glory, and that is how this service in this ministry began!

(this is actually my testimony) 1 Timothy 1:10-14 (AMP) [For] impure and immoral persons, those who abuse themselves with men, kidnappers, liars, perjurers—and whatever else is opposed to wholesome teaching and sound doctrine, As laid down by the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted. I give thanks to Him Who has granted me [the needed] strength and made me able [for this], Christ Jesus our Lord, because He has judged and counted me faithful and trustworthy, appointing me to [this stewardship of] the ministry. Though I formerly blasphemed and persecuted and was shamefully and outrageously and aggressively insulting [to Him], nevertheless, I obtained mercy because I had acted out of ignorance in unbelief. And the grace (unmerited favor and blessing) of our Lord [actually] flowed out superabundantly and beyond measure for me, accompanied by faith and love that are [to be realized] in Christ Jesus.

The thing that has kept me serving in this very vital ministry is to see the rampant theological and biblical abuse so many people were and are being exposed to. To see the proliferation of false teachers, so-called prophets, so-called faith healers and the like, the question for me is how can I not continue to serve with a doctrinally and theologically sound ministry as ours!

It literally, yes literally hurts my heart how so many people are taken advantage of and misled regarding God’s word because of being spiritually illiterate.

Questions like this one are the kind that drives my ongoing commitment to this ministry;

Question 643108: Why would God condemn His own Son to torment and death at the hands of the people that He was planning to forgive anyway? Why not just forgive them? Was that not in His power? Indeed, according to Christianity, what is NOT in His power?

There are many verses that fuel and drive my passion for rightly dividing the word of God, as led by the Holy Spirit, and here are a few;

Romans 1:16 (AMP) For I am not ashamed of the Gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is God’s power working unto salvation [for deliverance from eternal death] to everyone who believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek”.

2 Peter 3:9 (AMP) “The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance”.

Gwen did say a “little blurb, so I will end with this scripture to demonstrate my being captured by the grace and mercy of our risen Savior;

1 Corinthians 9:16-19 (AMP) 1 Corinthians 9:16-19 (AMP) For if I [merely] preach the Gospel, that gives me no reason to boast, for I feel compelled of necessity to do it. Woe is me if I do not preach the glad tidings (the Gospel)! For if I do this work of my own free will, then I have my pay (my reward); but if it is not of my own will but is done reluctantly and under compulsion, I am [still] entrusted with a [sacred] trusteeship and commission. What then is the [actual] reward that I get? Just this: that in my preaching the good news (the Gospel), I may offer it [absolutely] free of expense [to anybody], not taking advantage of my rights and privileges [as a preacher] of the Gospel. For although I am free in every way from anyone’s control, I have made myself a bond-servant to everyone, so that I might gain the more [for Christ]”.
