Info on the Writers’ Survey

November 2nd, 2014

Thank you to the many of you who filled out the survey! We appreciate your feedback and are considering how to make many of the suggested improvements.

A few items of note:

  • The “newsletter” referred to in the survey is this monthly email. Sorry for any confusion about that!
  • The “blog” referred to in the survey is the Team Blog at: http://team.gotquestions.org. We started the site last year as a way to archive newsletter content. We’ve also had some requests to use the Team Blog as an archive for Facebook discussions that might be of interest to those who do not use Facebook. From the suggestions made in the survey, we’re still working on exactly how to best utilize the site. But please take a look. If you’ve never logged on before, the username is: GQwriter, and the password is: GQ?blog!
    • The ministry does also have a blog site – Blogos.org – that is great. Please check it out if you have time!
  • Many of you mentioned wanting mini staff-bios. You’ll find these on Team Blog under “Profiles”. We will also start including a list of staff at the end of the newsletters as a quick reference for contact information.
  • We’ve also added to the Team Blog a post that describes how the Q&A system works and a post that gives a brief run-down on all the sites in the GotQuestions.org network.
  • Several of you put in personal information about updated areas of interest/skill, ability to answer more questions, or requests to receive questions on a specific day each week. Because the responses were not linked to your email address, we don’t know whose profile to update. So please contact Gwen at Gwen@GotQuestions.org with any updated information. And if you want to send an email just to verify that we know what types of questions you like, how many you can take, and if you have a preference on days you are assigned questions, that would be great, too.
  • A few of you mentioned not knowing about or being included in the Got Questions Writers’ Facebook group. If that is the case, please contact Kristi-Joy at KristiJoy@GotQuestions.org. Also, just as a reminder, the Got Questions Writers’ group page has an area with “Files,” which includes an overview of the purpose of the group, guidelines for using the group, and the general welcome letter to writers for Got Questions Ministries.
  • Many of you spoke about wanting more background information on questioners. Filling out a profile is optional for questioners, but we are working on ways to expand the profile options and encourage a more thorough explanation of circumstances. We are also discussing our assigning process and ways to better screen questions before they are sent to you. Thank you for your patience and continued grace with both us and our questioners.
  • Some of you mentioned changes that need to be made to articles on the site. If you ever notice an article with a problem (typo, outdated, etc), please email us.
  • There were lots of great suggestions. We’re working on how to provide better writing tips, how to connect writers, potentially making technical changes to the Q&A system, providing more feedback options for questioners and writers, and more. We truly appreciate your ideas.
  • Please know that we are always here for any of your questions. We are more than happy to clarify how the Q&A system works, update your profile, hear your concerns, receive your suggestions, etc. If you are ever unsure who to contact for something, you can always start with Gwen@GotQuestions.org.
