Question: Do you know some scripture references that I can pray over my unsaved kids and grand kids?
Profile: Female, North America, 46–60
Answered by: Rhonda Maydwell, who has been a volunteer with us since August 2016.
Answer: Hello! Thank you for your question. I love praying over my children and grandchildren—some of whom are not saved. Don’t forget our bonus children— those our children married. May all who find their way into our families know and love the Lord.
One of my favorite ways to pray for others is by
praying scripture over them—especially when I can insert their names in the
verses. Sounds like you like this too!
The Lord also will be
a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psalm 9:9-10
Father, please be a refuge for my children and
grandchildren. Help them to run to You in times of trouble. Thank You for not
forsaking them, but instead pursuing them with Your great love.

I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1-3
Lord, how I love you. You are my rock and my deliverer. I pray that You will make Yourself known to my children and grandchildren and be the horn of their salvation. In times of trouble, please be their fortress and their deliverance.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous
altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:7-11
Holy God, please reveal Your perfect Word to my children and grandchildren, beckoning their souls unto salvation. Open their ears to hear Your testimony and fill them with Your wisdom. I pray that Your statutes will give joy to their hearts. I pray that You will enlighten their eyes and teach them the fear of the Lord. Most of all, I pray that they will desire You more than anything in this world. Thank You for hearing my prayer.

Now I know that the Lord saves
His anointed;
He will answer him from His holy heaven
With the saving strength of His right hand.
Some trust in chariots, and some
in horses;
But we will remember the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:6-7
Lord, please lead each of my children and grandchildren into a right relationship with You. Answer them from Your holy heaven and save them by Your righteous right hand. Help them to put their trust in You and not in the things of this world. Speak Your name over them and lead them to salvation in Your Son.

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence
of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever. Psalm 23
Good Shepherd, I pray that You will guard and guide my sweet grandchildren. Lead my children to your path. Help them to want for nothing because they have found all they need in You. Lead them down paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake that they might dwell with You forever.

Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for leading me and showing me how to grandparent these children. Continue to teach me Your ways that I might lead my grandkids in Your truth. That I might model Your love to my children. I pray that all of my children and grandchildren will know You unto salvation and eagerly await the day when they will be received to Your side. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
I will add my own prayer to yours…
Father, thank You for entrusting us with children and grandchildren! The love we have for them is but a glimmer of Your love for us all. Lord, guide us to be faithful servants to you and to the children and grandchildren we live so dearly. God that you would soften their hearts to allow in Your love for them. That you would pursue them relentlessly and beckon them to come. Give them eyes to see you as their savior, ears to hear the goodness of your Word, a heart longing to be captured by You, and a mind never satisfied with knowing You more and more. Thank You for loving them even more than I could ever hope to! In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
God knows your heart’s desire and they echo His. May you see them all turn to God and love Him with all their hearts.
You are a wonderful grandmother and mother!
God bless you,
Rhonda
