I was referred to Got Questions by a mentor/pastor and I used your site for a few weeks before I applied to be a volunteer. Writing for you keeps me in the Word and helps keep me “sharp” as far as leadership and pastoral ministry is concerned. I enjoy answering questions which I research, but I most enjoy answering questions related to church polity and guidance for areas of church life not addressed particularly in the Bible.

I got involved with Got Questions more “by
chance” than by intention. I was searching for some information related to a
Christian topic on the internet, and in the search results, the Got Questions
site came up. On surfing through the site, I found a link on getting involved
with Got Questions. Through following that link, I expressed the desire to be a
volunteer to answer questions. I was sent a “test question” and my answer to it
was accepted; that is how my journey with GQ began, and has continued.

The GotQuestions website popped up one day when I was doing
research on Israel. I was surprised and pleased at the well-written, biblically
sound database of questions and answers. I couldn’t deny that serving as a
volunteer writer was right up my alley. I love to write, arrange and rearrange
words in a way that’s coherent and hopefully pleasing to read.
At that point in time, I had to ask myself, how much I had
done for God, in view of all the grace He had poured out on me? Meh, not all
that much. He had kept me alive through 8 years of . . .

I was first
introduced to the GotQuestions ministry by a fellow pastor. I checked it out,
prayed about it, and decided to join the writing staff, appreciating the
careful vetting process. Over the years, I have enjoyed sharing what God’s Word
says about a myriad of topics. Some of the questions have been relatively
simple to answer; some of them have challenged me to study / research a little
more (always a good thing). Over the years, some of the people I have “met”
have obviously been rather versed in the Scriptures wanting to learn even . . .

I just found out that I am celebrating my ten-year anniversary of being a writer for Got Questions. Boy, time flies. I came across the site in my research for a study that I was leading and followed the link to become a writer. I believe the question that I was asked to address as part of my application was around eternal security. It has been fun to serve and a real privilege as well. Serving with Got Questions keeps my theology chops sharp as I have answered questions ranging from salvation to the mystery of the incarnation as well as more . . .

10 years ago, I was using GotQuestions a lot. (I still do.) But I remember thinking that it would be great to be a part of this ministry. To me, this continues to be one way I can share the gospel and minister to people. As an added bonus, I particularly love the occasional whiteboard of hilarious questions.

What
got you involved in Got Questions Ministries?
The leading of the Spirit
according to Ephesians 2:10
What has kept you with it for 10 years?
The high honor
of serving God! Thomas Watson
(1620-1686) wrote an article to pastors about their high calling. Though the “intended audience” was the 17th
century pastor, one may presume all laborers in the Great Commission would be
included. An excerpt from Chapter 1 in Watson’s book entitled “The Beatitudes” follows:

Before I joined Got Questions about 10 years ago, I
had been practically devouring the site daily when I discovered it in 2004 or
2005. In the beginning I went through a gallon of ink printing
the answers to read over and over again. It was in large part
because of this ministry that I grew into a mature Christian. Being a
volunteer has taught me how to lean on the Holy Spirit for guidance in all
things. Answering questions still brings me great joy, especially when I
can encourage others in their pursuit . . .
