Answer: Thank you for your questions.
There are many names of God. See https://www.gotquestions.org/names-of-God.html. As the article in this link explains, each different name of God focuses on a particular function or characteristic God.
So, for instance, in Genesis Chapter 1, we see the name Elohim, which we translate in English as God. Elohim means, creator, mighty strong, infinite creative power, which is appropriate for the creation of the universe in Genesis 1.
In contrast, in Genesis Chapter 2, we see the name YHWH, which we translate in English as LORD. YHWH specifies an immediacy, a presence, one who is accessible, near to those who call on him for deliverance, forgiveness, and guidance, which is appropriate for God’s interaction with Adam and Eve. See https://www.gotquestions.org/Jehovah.html and https://www.gotquestions.org/YHWH-tetragrammaton.html.
Moses asked God at the burning bush what his name was, so that he could report it to the Hebrew people. God answered that his covenant name, name that the Hebrew people would know him by was YHWH, or as we translate it into English, LORD meaning I am that I am.
There are many, many other examples. A study on the various names of God, what they mean and how they are used in Scripture, is of great value. The article in the 1st link above recommends the book, The Names of God, by Ann Spangler. Many years ago, when I embarked upon this journey, I read the book, Names of God, by Nathan Stone.
Your second question indicates some confusion about the triune nature or tri-unity of God. Please read the article in the attached link. https://www.gotquestions.org/Trinity-Bible.html. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are of the same essence, yet each has different functions. God the Father planned the creation, but God the Son was the agent of creation making it so. See the Gospel of John Chapter 1.
The tri-unity of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, has always existed. At some point, the second person of the Trinity, whom we call God the Son, took on a second nature, the form of a man, and was born and given the name Jesus, yet he was still God the Son, and he did not give up his essence of God, he simply took on a second essence. See Philippians 2:1-11. As such, he could die in our place on the cross to take the punishment of our sins. Yet, he himself was sinless. God the Father had no need to “come to earth as Jesus had done.”
