Ten years ago, I was researching something for the Bible Study I teach at work and the first search result Google listed was from GotQuestions.org. Their answer was spot-on but admittedly, I’m wary of organizations I’ve never heard about, so I clicked on their “Statement of Faith” link and read the first line of the first paragraph: “We believe the Bible, comprised of the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God (Matthew 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).”
Good start, but I’ve found the key to understanding an organization’s beliefs is their answer to Jesus’ simple question to Peter: “Who do you say I am?” Again, their “Statement of Faith” was right on the money: “We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is God incarnate, God in human form, the expressed image of the Father, who, without ceasing to be God, became man in order that He might demonstrate who God is and provide the means of salvation for humanity (Matthew 1:21; John 1:18; Colossians 1:15).”
Those two statements are in complete agreement with my core beliefs and gave me the confidence that their answers were Biblically-based and could be trusted. Since that day, they have not strayed from these fundamental truths and I have used the GotQuestions website continuously and consistently for researching Biblical questions.
Since answering my first question in January 2009, I have been exceedingly blessed in my own spiritual journey by serving as a writer for this organization. Every week I am challenged to open my Bible and search for answers to questions from people around the world and I am humbled that God has allowed me to further His kingdom in some small way through this ministry.
I receive an annual “performance review” from GotQuestions (which I greatly appreciate and look forward to receiving). This year, I returned the favor and sent my own “performance review” of the ministry, which I’d like to share today:
- I have found GotQuestions to be a fundamentally sound, Biblically-based, well-organized ministry. The sheer volume of questions that you manage each week is astonishing: when I started in 2009, you were handling about 500 questions a week (based on the incrementing numbers of the questions assigned to me); it is now around 1,000 questions each week. Which means you are helping at least 1,000 people each week, plus everyone that visits your website. Amazing!
- I like the fact that you hold me accountable for responding in a set amount of time. I work best when I have a deadline and each week you give me a date as to when I need to provide an answer (plus you gently remind me if I’m late). That said, if I ask for additional time, you always accommodate me. Thank you!
- Because you are my primary contact, I consider [Gwen] to be the “face of the organization”. You are responsive, timely, friendly, courteous, and spiritual in your emails to me. I appreciate your flexibility when I ask for time off for business travel or to visit our grandkids. You also moved my assignments to Thursdays to accommodate my Bible Study teaching schedule at work, something I greatly appreciate!
- I consider this ministry to be blessed. Why? Because it has all the earmarks of a Christ-centered ministry: it is growing (see #1), it is sharing the Gospel with people around the world, it is helping people with their struggles, and it is a great resource for Biblically-sound answers to an incredibly broad range of topics (I use it often for my own research). Therefore, you must be doing things right in God’s eyes, giving Him all the glory in everything you do. Praise Him!
God’s blessings to all of you!
For Him,
