I’ve been thinking about routine faithfulness lately. We live in a fallen and dark world in which we are called to be lights. Sometimes it can seem as if everything is against us—culture, circumstances, and even our own sin natures. It can be wearying to continue to press on in faith and obedience, choosing the narrow path instead of the broad way. And yet God proves Himself faithful over and over again; following His ways really does bring life, as so many Scriptures assure us.
My church has been studying the life of Elijah, and it’s been amazing to see God’s tenderness and His care for the prophet. Our pastor recently pointed out Obadiah and the way perhaps many more of us can relate personally to him than to Elijah (1 Kings 18). Obadiah worked in an evil regime and he risked everything to save 100 of God’s prophets. Many in our culture take risks when they choose to follow God’s ways above the ways of the world. He also pointed out that while Elijah had been fed by a raven, those 100 prophets were fed by Obadiah. Many times God’s provision for us seems rather ordinary, and yet it is no less His provision, no less a demonstration of His care.
Whether you are entering this new month feeling energized in faith and fully aware of God’s work in your life, fearful at some of the risks of living in the midst of darkness, weary, or confused about what God is doing in your life, we pray you will know that you are seen, heard, and loved deeply by our great God. He is also using you to bless so many others. Your work with Got Questions may seem ordinary to you, but sharing the truth of God in a dark world is vital and fruitful. Thank you for joining us in the work!
