Question on the Jews and having a king

Wendyl Leslie February 3, 2016 Question for the group: "When did the Jews stop having their own king and why?" I don't know how to answer that question. However, I've always thought the Jews were still awaiting the arrival of the Messiah to become their king and ruler. Any thoughts on this question would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!
